ICSD President's about IWG

Hello! Good Day!

I was in Helsinki, Finland and attended 6th International Working Group on Women and Sport (IWG).

The conference included open dialogues with members around the world, removing discriminations, barriers and discussing on how women and sports are not in parallel with men and sports.
This is especially true in countries such as South Africa, Asia and few other countries where women are now advocating for equal access in sports.
As the ICSD President, we believe in equal participations in all sports for both men and women.

Presidents of IOC (Olympic), IPC (Paralympic) and other top-officials including myself, is pleased to inform all that we endorsed the Brighton Declaration on Women and Sport which includes Deaf on June 12, 2014 at the 6th IWG World Conference on Women and Sport.

ICSD celebrated this momentous event during the 20th anniversary of the IWG and Brighton Declaration. The ICSD salutes IWG on their work in “Empowering Women - Advancing Sport”.

As a President and on behalf of the ICSD, we were delighted in having three Deaf women participating at this event, Dr. Becky Clark, Dawn Jani Birley, and Dr. Johanna Mesch.
Their commitment in empowering, encouraging and seeing values with having youth and women involved in every aspect of sports.
The three of them gave powerful presentation focuses on empowering and addresses the need for Deaf women being involved in sports and especially with the ICSD.
The participants at the conference was impressed by their presentation.

In addition, I would also like to give special thanks to Dr. Donalda Ammons for her tremendous work and ongoing support for Deaf women and youth on behalf of the ICSD.
