ICSD President's Update - June 2014

I have several items to share with you.

Several weeks ago I was in Turkey for the Sport Accord Convention. This worldwide meeting of major International sporting executives was well organised.
I met many of them.

There were IOC, IPC, and many top leaders of International federations in different sports such as football, volleyball, judo and so on.
During the convention days, I had very important meeting there was with a representative of the city of Lausanne, Switzerland. The person was in the charge of providing housing in this city. We discussed the possibility of relocating of our ICSD Home Office to Lausanne. It’s important that we want to be near the IOC, IPC, and other International Federation in different sports such as football, judo, and many others, then we will be visible and have better business relationship with each other.

I think it’s very important step.
Now, it’s also important for us to approve our ICSD’s relocation to Switzerland.

We must discuss this matter before the 45th Congress in Khanty-Mansiysk will discuss the issue, decide and vote on it.
Once we get an approval from the Congress, then I will notify it to the Swiss officials and they will allow us to get relocated there.
I believe our relocation to Lausanne will be an ideal and worthwhile on.

We will benefit a lot, especially in the areas of finances and publicity.

Now I have to share another encouraging news.
I have received a letter from the IOC President Mr. Thomas Bach. I was very surprised - and very honored - to learn that Mr. Bach has appointed me as an expert to serve on the special IOC Commission called the World Group Olympic 2020. It’s a very positive news for us, the deaf people. It is the first time in a very long and proud history of the ICSD that a deaf person is being nominated to a very important IOC position in any capacity.

Soon I will travel to Lausanne to take part in a special meeting of this Group.
