ICSD September Bulletin

Hello sports friends, welcome to Paralympics Closing Ceremony, London UK!

I am Craig Crowley, CC, President of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf. (ICSD)

I have important news about ICSD.

The board of ICSD has had a meeting in London.

Board members have come from all over the world.

We had many important discussions about the future of deaf sport.

We discussed our world championships and the Deaflympics. We are happy there have been no cancellations for the world championships.

For the Deaflympics, we are working hard on Sofia. Already we have the support of the government. Before the end of September, we will have a strong contract finished.

We also discussed governance review. We have been working hard. We are very happy to launch a website for you to give us your ideas.

The address is icsd.dialogue-app.com

We discussed the importance of partnerships with the world of sport such as International Federations (Ifs): I am very happy that Christophe Dubi, the sports director of the IOC came and talked about the IOC providing more support to deaf sport. And will work on a stronger MoU.

I am also pleased to tell you that the finances of ICSD are much better than last year when we had the cancellation in Slovakia. But we are not out of the woods and working very hard to keep spending down.

The Paralympic games are happening now in London. The board came to observe the competitions, to see inside the Olympic village and to support the many deaf athletes.

At the end of the board meeting we are happy that deaf sport is the turning the corner.

We have much work to do and we will keep you informed as we go forward.

Goodbye
