Swimming & Water Polo

Greetings!

David McIlroy of Ireland is the new deaf world record holder in the 50m Butterfly swimming event.  David's time of 26.01 bettered the old mark of his countryman by .17 seconds.  Congratulations, David!

Let's support and watch South Africa's Deaf swimmer, Terence Parkin, who will compete in the Athens Olympics from 14 - 21 August.  Please inform CISS of any other Deaf athletes so we can cheer them as well in Athens.

Swimming competition at the Melbourne Deaflympics will be exciting with six new 50m stroke events.  Water Polo will have five teams battling for the Gold medal.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and be sure to take a swim in your pool, river, lake, ocean, or sea.  I look forward to seeing you all in Melbourne in five months!
