ICSD CEO Mr. Dmitry Rebrov and ICSD Doping Control Officer Mr. Artem Buerov met with the TDSF President Mr. Yakup Kihtir last week at the TDSF headquarters in Ankara, Turkey. The meeting was extraordinary due to importance to discuss all issues for developing further strategy.
We consider important to remind that in July 2016 World Deaf Martial Arts Championships, World Deaf Beach Volleyball Championships and World Deaf Table Tennis Championships as the Test Events for the 23rd Summer Deaflympics 2017 in Samsun, Turkey will take place at the same time with The Chef de Mission Meeting and the One Year Countdown Celebration - 365 Days To Go.
Several problems in Sports Schedule, Doping control, Accommodation and meals, were submitted for consideration. All sports structures have been started and should be finished for test events scheduled for this July. "Now we are very confident the test events will happen in time and be successful," Dmitry Rebrov said.
During the meeting with Head of International Sport Events Department Mr. Hayrullah Ozan Cetinek mentioned that the government always paid attention to deaf sports development as well as the important role of Deaf Sport Movement in economic and social development of the deaf people.
Terrorist acts are the most important problem we are facing today. Security is the responsibility of the host country and the Turkish service will ensure participants and spectators of Deaflympics and Championships feel safe despite heightened security fears. Organising Committee is using past Deaflympics as model, cooperating with ICSD and building upon a successful safety records last years.
