Deaflympics Torch Arrived to Samsun

Samsun 2017 - ISCD Workshop in Sheraton Grand Samsun Hotel

The torch of the 23rd Summer Deaflympics has arrived from Lausanne to Samsun, Turkey on July 3, 2017. People of Samsun greeted it in the grand ceremony held with the participation of Youth and Sports Minister Akif Cagatay KILIC in Bati Park.

Minister Cagatay KILIC, expressed the pleasure of having the Deaflympic torch in Samsun at the ceremony. He stated: "Samsun will be the beautiful host for the 23rd Summer Deaflympics Games and it will be remembered for over the years. I believe and trust my townsmen in this regard. Samsun is ready for the Deaflympic Games. We thank All of you for your participation and energy."

In addition, Governor of Samsun, Osman KAYMAK; Justice and Development Party Deputy responsible for the environmental policy; City and Culture Deputy of Samsun, Cigdem KARAASIAN, and Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, Yusuf Ziya YILMAZ gave speeches at the ceremony. Vice President of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf, Kang Chen and ICSD CEO, Dmitry Rebrov shared the enthusiasm of the Deaflympics with the people of Samsun.

Samsun born Olympic champions national wrestlers, Mustafa Dagestanlı and Taha Akgül, national football players Gökhan Gonul and Sabri Sarıoglu, record holder of the World in freediving, Sahika Ercumen, presenter and athlete Ece Vahapoglu also attended the ceremony as the Olympic Ambassadors.
