Bowling

It was a pleasure to work with - both new and old players from many different countries. I became a new ICSD Bowling consultant in April 2009 and I must say it has been hard, yet rewarding work. Thank you to WTBA Yap kok Wee, Mervyn Foo, CTBA, SLO, 8 interpreters, 10 referees, and about 60 volunteers for their hard work. I was really pleased to know that FIQ president Jessie Phua from Singapore came to Summer Deaflympics Bowling tournament. I am impressed that we have grown to host 39 countries and over 210 players.

On 3 and 4 September, a meeting was held at the congress. Argentina expressed interest to host 2nd World Deaf Bowling Championships in 2011, approval is pending site visit to their venues further announcement will follow.

On 8 September we started our tournament with Men's Singles in the morning at 9 am and women started in the afternoon at 1 pm.

Women’s Singles winner is CHANG YAO-CHIEN from TPE. Her score was 1134 and second place was JEONG YEON JEONG from KOR whose score was 1128 and third place was LIN HSIANG-TZU from TPE whose score was 1106. Men’s Singles winner is PERRY RANDLL WAYNE from USA. His score was 1228 and second place was JONGHOON HAM from KOR whose score was 1197 and third place was AWANG MOHD ZAIDI (third time Deaflympian) from MAS whose score was 1188.

Women Doubles winners are KILPELAINEN AIRA and LINTULA SATU from FIN and their score was 2147 and second are WANG YU-CHIN and CHEN WEN-NI from TPE their score was 2140 and third are DI TONDO SHARON and BROTHAG PATRICIA from USA their score was 2108. Men's Doubles winners are SEONGJO AN and JONGHOON HAM from KOR and their score was 2378 and second are YOUNGCHUN SEO and YOUNHO KIM from KOR their score was 2368 and third are ORAIF MOHAMMED and ALROMAIH FAHAD from KSA (first time ever to get medal) their score was 2346.

Women's Trios winners are LIN HSIANG-TZU, WANG YU-CHIN and CHANG YAO-CHIEN from TPE and their was 3267 and second are CHEN WEN-NI, HUANG YA-TING and HSUEH HSIU-CHEN from TPE their score was 3182 and third are JEONG YEON JEONG, SUN JUNGF LEE and MOON JA JUNG from KOR are their score was 3118. Men's Trios winners are SEONGJO AN, TAEIN CHOI and JONGHOON HAM from KOR are their was 3485 and second are CHIU CHING-LING, WENG CHUNG-MING and HSIEN SHENG-FU from TPE are their was 3483 and third are their was ELOSSON ANTON, FLINK FREDRIC and JOHANSSON PETER from SWE are their was 3290.

Women's Team winners are Chinese Taipei, LIN HSIANG-TZU-1015, WANG YU-CHIN-1000, HSUEH HSIU-CHEN-1034, CHEN WEN-NI-1125, and CHANG YAO-CHIEN-1038 total score was 5212. Second are Russian Federation, KORALINOVA NADEZDA-985, LOTINA OLGA-1041, YAREEVA MARIA-1060, PARITS DINA-932, KAATANSKAYA MARINA-499-3 games, and LIPKINA SVETLANA-402-3 games. Total score was 4919. Third are Sweden, STRANG VERA-891, KARLSSON ANNELIE-1014, LUNDH LENA-475-3 games, ULFSPARRE EVA-1006, SUNDELL MARITA-445-3 games, and DAHLBERG LOTTE-1056, total score was 4887. Men’s Team winners are Chinese Taipei, CHIU CHING-LING-1168, WENG CHUNG-MING-1102, KUNG SHIH-CHUN-1061, CHEN CHUNG-CHIN-1168, and HSIEN SHENG-FU-1252 total score was 5751. Second are Korea, SEONGJO AN-1140, YOUNGCHUN SEO-1135, TAEIN CHOI-1111, YOUNHO KIM-998, and JONGHOON HAM-1210 total score was 5594. Third are Sweden, NORDELL ANDERS-1085, JOHANSSON PETER-997, DAHLSTROM EMIL-1096, FLINK FREDRIC-1066, and ELOSSON ANTON-968 total score was 5212.

The best bowler in the 10 days was CHANG YAO-CHIEN from TPE. She received 4 gold medals and SEONGJO AN from KOR was next with 3 gold medals and 1 silver. The country with most medals was Chinese Taipei with 5 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze and next was Korea with 3 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze.
