2006 WIDEX Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year

Frederick MD, USA - Björn KOCH of Germany and Anna POLIVANCHUK of Sweden have been selected as the 2006 WIDEX Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year by the member of International Committee of Sports for the Deaf Selections Commission through electronic ballot, by earning 30 and 53 points respectively.

Björn KOCH, Born 11 JAN 1988, his accomplishment for this year was at the EDSO Championships in Thessaloniki, Greece where he won three (3) gold medals in 100m butterfly, 200m butterfly, and 200m individual medley, silver medal in 50m butterfly, and two (2) bronze medals in 200m freestyle and 4x100m medley relay.

Anna POLIVANCHUK, Born 31 AUG 1990, her accomplishments for this year were at the EDSO Swimming Championships in Thessaloniki, Greece where she earned six (6) of the total 17 medals for Sweden. Three (3) of them are gold, two (2) silver and one (1) bronze. In addition, Anna holds 25 European records, eight (8) of them are senior records at 25 m pool, and another eight (8) of them are junior records also at 25m pool. Two (2) of them are senior records at 50m pool and another seven (7) of them are junior records at 50m pool.
