Job Description:
The Winter Sport Directors plays crucial role in overseeing and managing sports activities during the Deaflympics, World Deaf Championships, and World Deaf Youth Games. This position demands a commitment to International Committee of Sport for the Deaf (ICSD) regulations, the promotion of ethical standards, and an active contribution to the international Deaf Sport community.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the respective sport in alignment with the ICSD vision, mission, objects, and goals, maintaining professional and ethical conduct.
  • Report to the Vice President - Sports, providing support and advice to the Sports Commission and the Secretariat.
  • Oversee all aspects of competition organisation, management, and delivery for the sport, collaborating with local organising committees and informing the ICSD Secretariat.
  • Manage the relationship between ICSD and the International Sport Federation for the sport, staying informed about changes to rules and regulations with updates to the ICSD Secretariat.
  • Maintain ICSD sports regulations, approving world records when applicable in coordination with the ICSD Secretariat.
  • Provide an electronic copy of a full list of participants, results, and world records (if applicable) no later than one (1) month after the conclusion of Deaflympics, World Deaf Championships, or World Deaf Youth Games to the Secretariat.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven commitment to the respective sport.
  • Experience in the respective sport at major international competitions as an athlete, coach, or official.
  • Proficiency in International Sign and written English.
  • Comfort dealing with senior sports managers. Adherence to the ICSD Code of Ethics.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise professional judgment, and perform well under pressure.
  • Collaboration with internal/external constituents and groups.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and fostering an inclusive working and learning environment.

Additional Position Details:

  • Work at home or remotely.\Voluntary position with a four-year term starting from the Summer Deaflympics, potentially continuing until the conclusion of the Summer Deaflympics in 2025.
  • Availability for evening or weekend work during ICSD-sanctioned events.
  • Travel as needed, with expenses covered by the organising committee.
  • Must stay an additional day if required after the conclusion of Deaflympics, World Championships, or World Deaf Youth Games to prepare a technical report for the Executive Board.

  • Letter of support from at least one (1) Full or Associate Member.
  • Summary of the applicant's competition history, sports management experience, sports qualifications (CV).
  • Criminal background check.
  • Supporting materials such as resumes, certificates, and references.

Note: For security reasons, do not send the passport to us; however, a proof of passport must be presented during the interview. The ICSD Secretariat will administer all applications, and the Vice President - Sports will review, interview, and make recommendations to the Executive Board for consideration and approval.
