Official Draw Ceremony for Team Sports – TOKYO 2025
We are pleased to announce that the Official Draw Ceremony for the 25th Summer Deaflympics Tokyo 2025 will take place on 29 July 2025, hosted by the Tokyo 2025 Organising Committee in Japan. The draw will determine the group allocation for all team sports: Basketball, Football, Handball, and Volleyball.
The event will be broadcast live on the ICSD YouTube channel and is open for all to follow online.

Time: 05:30 – 07:30 UTC (14:30 – 16:30 JST)
Location: Online from the Tokyo 2025 OC Headquarters

Programme Highlights
The ceremony will include opening remarks, individual draw procedures for each sport and gender category, and a final summary of all groupings. The following persons will act as Draw Conductors:
Basketball: Dario Pignataro
Football: Brice Allain
Handball: Jonny Gustavsson
Volleyball: Cathy Schelvis
At the end of the event, the official draw results will be summarised and shared publicly.
Draw Principles for Team Sports
The group allocation will be based on clearly defined Draw Principles, which take into account rankings, regional balance, and fairness across all competitions. Each participating team has been assigned to a specific team pot, and group numbering has been predefined in the group pots. These procedures are outlined in the official document below.
Language & Accessibility
The full ceremony will be conducted in International Sign (IS). No interpretation into other languages will be provided.
