ICSD Responds to Breach of Conduct During World Deaf Futsal Championships 2025

Lausanne, Switzerland – 22 June 2025

The International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) confirms that disciplinary action has been taken following an incident that occurred during the group stage of the World Deaf Futsal Championships 2025.

During one of the matches, conduct by a player from I.R.Iran was observed and documented that violated the core values and principles of the ICSD, including political neutrality, non-discrimination, and respect for all individuals regardless of background or belief.

The ICSD Constitution clearly upholds the values of equality, integrity, and fair play. These standards were also reiterated to all teams and delegations during the official Technical Meeting prior to the start of the tournament.

As a result of the incident:

• The player involved has been disqualified from further participation in the tournament.

• The relevant national federation has been sanctioned in accordance with ICSD regulations.

The ICSD reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that sport remains a platform for inclusion, mutual respect, and peaceful exchange among all participants. There is no place for hate, political expression, or discriminatory behavior at any ICSD-sanctioned event.
