Call for Elections to the Athletes Commission (2025 - 2029)

We, the ICSD, are actively seeking four (4) candidates for the positions on the ICSD Athletes Commission, specifically from the realm of summer sports. The Athletes Commission plays a crucial role in fostering communication between athletes and the ICSD leadership, ensuring that athletes’ voices and perspectives are heard and considered in decision-making processes.

We believe that individuals with experience and passion for summer sports can bring valuable insights to the Athletes Commission, contributing to the growth and development of deaf sports on an international scale.

Therefore, active athletes (Summer Deaflympics) who are interested in participating in the work of the Athletes’ Commission should contact their National Deaf Sports Federation for detailed information and apply by completing and signing the application form, which the NDSF will then send to the ICSD office. Also, we kindly request National Deaf Sports Federations assistance intifying and nominating suitable candidates who embodies good communications skills including the use of International Sign and proficiency in reading and writing English, and who embody the values of fair play, sportsmanship, and dedication to the advancement of deaf sports.

The application form and required documents must be submitted by 15 August 2025 and we look forward to receiving nominations from the National Deaf Sports Federations.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for nomination to the ICSD Athletes Commission, the candidate must:

  • Be a registered member of their National Deaf Sports Federation.
  • Be an active deaf athlete, defined as one who:
  • Is currently competing in the 2025 Summer Deaflympics, or
  • Has competed in the previous edition of the Summer Deaflympics.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have no record of sanctions for doping offenses during their sporting career.
  • Be willing to:
  • Perform the required roles and responsibilities of the Commission.
  • Attend Commission meetings and actively participate.
  • Possess strong communication skills, including:
  • International Sign
  • Ability to read and write in English
