Greetings,

Summer is coming soon for many of us.  August will be exciting to compete and watch Deaf swimming races. Thirty (30) countries have preliminary registered for the 2011 WDSC in Portugal.  Train and prepare well.

2011 World Deaf Swimming Championships - Coimbra, Portugal; 6-13 August
Swimming teams should plan on arriving Lisboa 5 August. Transportation to Coimbra will be provided. The pool will be open from 9:00 to 17:00 for training on 5, 6, and 10 August.

There will be a required technical meeting at 14:00, 6 August at the pool.  Opening ceremony will occur that evening, 6 August.

Swimming competition begins 7 August and ends 13 August.  Preliminary heats start at 10:00 and final heats at 16:30.  There will be a free day (no competition) on 10 August.

There will be a farewell party on 13 August.  Transportation from Coimbra to Lisboa will be provided next day, 14 August for those who depart.

Final Entry forms will be sent out next month and is due 22 July 2011.  Please submit the completed forms to me at SwimmingTD@ciss.org   Your NDSF (National Deaf Sports Federation) must approve and sign the form. Qualification Times for the 2011 WDSC can be found here. New swimmers must submit an audiogram to ICSD, controls@ciss.org by 6 May to avoid $20 late fee.
