Malaysia Deaf Sport recognized by the Government of Malaysia

The Government of Malaysia has finally recognised Malaysia Deaf Sports Association (MSDeaf) as the National Deaf Sports Federation for Malaysia when the Minister for Youth and Sports (KBS), YB. Bhg. Jen. Khairy Jamaluddin presented the amendment to the National Sports Development Act in the Parliament and the amendment has been approved on 03 April 2018.

Clause 3 seeks to incorporate the new Part IIIA into the Act 576, which provides that the Malaysia Deaf Sports Association is responsible for ensuring Malaysian’s participation in the Deaflympics, the Asia Pacific Deaf Sports and other international sports competitions that are in accordance with the rules and regulations of the International Sports Committee for the Deaf.

MSDeaf thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia (KBS) and welcomed this development. It is a great and historic event to the development of Deaf Malaysian sports.

MSDeaf also thank Dato Seri Hj. Mohd Najib Tun Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia and YAB. Dato Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia as for playing a huge role in defending the development of national sports, especially on sports involving the disabled people.

It is an honour that the national Deaf athletes can now stand in line with the national hearing athletes and the national Paralympic athlete. It is hoped that the Deaf people sports development program will be better treated to enjoy equal rights with the other athletes.

The effort strived by MSDeaf, the sole Malaysian Deaf sport body since its inception in 2010 has finally achieved the highest recognition from the Malaysian government. Deepest appreciation to all those who have provided and are still providing great support to the national Deaf Sports.
