ICSD invites new candidates for members of the Legal Commission

The ICSD is seeking for representatives from EDSO (Europe), CADS (Africa), APDSC (Asia Pacific) and PANAMDES (Americas) Regions.

The successful candidate will be a member of the ICSD Legal Commission and report to the ICSD Legal Commission Chair. This position is voluntary although some expenses may be reimbursed. Accommodation and travel will be provided if the member is requested to attend any official ICSD event. The Legal Commission member will be responsible for the follow to the Terms of Reference.

This commission’s primary role is to help the Executive Board and members handle complex issues. This commission shall research and break down complex issues and present its findings to the Executive Board and members which can then move forward to making decisions.

According to the International Olympic Committee’s Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance of the Olympic and Sports Movement:
“All members of the Olympic Movement should adopt, as their minimum standard, the Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance of the Olympic Movement, as proposed by the IOC”.

2.8 Conflicts of interests:
As a general principle, members of any decision-making body should be independent in their decisions
No-one with a personal or business interest in the issue under discussion should be involved in the decision
Adequate procedures should be established in order to avoid any conflicts of interests

To serve on ICSD Legal Commission, interested candidates shall:
- To be familiar with the organization
- the mission as set forth in the Articles of Incorporation and Constitution
- the activities of the organization, and
- the organizational structure and staff positions
- to understand the duty of care and the duty of loyalty acting prudently
- putting the interests of the organization first before one’s own interests
- Valuing discretion and confidentiality
