I am pleased to inform you that I have been appointed to serve as ICSD Technical Director of Basketball for the 2010-2013 terms. See my biography for details.

U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships 2010 in Lublin/POL
From 8 April until 10 April 2010 I was in Poland for U21 WDBC 2010 site inspection, meeting and team drawing. Below is my report:

Sports Hall - After the landing in Warsaw I was well received and picked up by the OC. By car the trip took about 2 hours to Lublin, the venue of 1st U21 World Deaf Basketball Championships 2010. Directly on arrival I met the Vice President of Polish Deaf Sports Federation (PDSF), Jaroslaw Janiec outside the Sports Hall "Globus". We have visited all four Sports Halls. The most important conditions have been met.

Meeting - After the inspection of the Sports Halls we went to the Sports Office of PDSF. After the nice introduction of board members of the PDSF and the Organizing Committee (OC) and small tour of the Sports Office we started the meeting with the OC. The meeting was good and important. After the meeting we did a small sample of the team drawing.

Transport & Hotels - The OC will be providing excellent bus services for all countries teams for direct transports during the championships and trainings as well as airport and hotels travel free of charge. The OC offer two accommodations, the Victoria Hotel (60,- EUR per person with full board, www.hotel.victoria.lublin.pl) and Boarding House for Deaf (35,- EUR per person with full board).

Draws Introduction - On 9 April 2010 the draws of women and men was held in the Victoria Hotel in Lublin. Secretary General of the PDSF Stanislaw Janiec opened the introduction and introduced all important people. The board members of the PDSF, City Lublin, Region Lubelskie and Polish Sport Federation were present. As well as Marek Lembrych and Mariusz Adameczek (both FIBA representatives).

Draws - After the opening speech I informed everyone about the draw regulation and gave the official start for the drawing. The draws of women and men were very exciting. After the draws the OC hosted a banquet. The people nibbled and talked about the results of the draws.

Lublin City Sightseeing - On afternoon the President of PDSF, Wojciech STEMPURSKI, has led me to the old city of Lublin, the city centrum, the big castle, the concentration camp, the old and new Deaf school. The city is beautiful and emotional.

Conclusion - The Organizing committee has everything prepared and organized well through the good experience of U20 European Championships 2009.

For important information: The Final Entry Form (Form 3) must be submitted directly to me (basketballTD@ciss.org) no later than 11 June 2010.
